S o u n d C e n t r a l A B Q - a j o i n t v e n t u r e . . .
Production Central ABQ™ is pleased to announce a joint venture with Sound Central ABQ™ LLC., located inside the Production Central ABQ facility at 519 Central Ave. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. Rick Clemente is in charge of the administrative and marketing duties. Sound Engineer Max Francis runs the tech side. The Recording/Mix facility is available both as a fully staffed operation and a supported facility for visiting engineers, sound editors, sound designers, etc. The eligible costs originating from the studio qualify for the New Mexico 25% film incentive rebate program.
The equipment assembled for Sound Central ABQ consists of a state-of-the-art “gear list” that is capable of handling all aspects of any audio post-production task. The build-out consultant for the recording studio and mix-control room has been Robert Winder, a Post-Production Facility and Operations Management Executive with over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry. From mid-1999 to the end of 2005 he served as Vice President, Post Production Services for Warner Bros. Studio Facilities. Our goal in designing and equipping the studio has been to make the top sound people from Hollywood feel like they are in comfortable and familiar surroundings, ready to sit down and be productive right out of the box. We offer full hospitality amenities along with an extensive list of services:
- ADR- The facility can accommodate several different methods of signal flow and utilizes a vast number of plug-ins and mics that allow us to match, capture and seamlessly integrate the vocal performance. A 52-inch flat screen monitor in the studio and a matched 46-inch flat monitor in the control room provide a perfect visual environment for talent, supervisors and engineers. The studio is spacious and will comfortably accommodate a good-sized Loop Group.
- Foley- The sound room “studio proper” at Sound Central ABQ is unique in its own way. The quiet 800 sq.ft. room is between two brick walls with several portable sound treated walls to create different spaces of different sizes to capture the “realism” and continuity in the soundtrack. The variety of microphones (including the Sennheiser MKH 416) and microphone preamps give limitless options for any Foley recording task.
- Sound Design- The studio is equipped with Digidesign HD3 system on a Mac Pro Dual Core running Pro Tools 7.4 and ADAM Audio S3A with an ADAM Audio sub12 (for 5.1 surround monitors), and JBL LSR4328 (for stereo monitors). There are a huge amount of plug-ins, synths, and virtual instruments for any effect desired, including: Sound Toys TDM effects, iZotope Spectron, iZotope Trash, Ultimate Sound Bank UVISC03 Xtreme FX UVI Soundcard, Spectrasonics Atmosphere, Sony Pictures Sound Effects Series 1-10 and a lot more (see our “gear list”).
- Editing- With all new state-of-the-art equipment, grouping the Production Dialog, ADR, Foley, Sound Effects, and Music can be done with ease. And with ADAM Audio S3A 5.1 monitoring and all of the software we have available, cleaning up the grouped tracks can be done efficiently without hassle. We also have some vintage equipment for those special projects that benefit from a little patina.
- Mixing/Premixing- One of the most important tasks in motion picture audio post-production is the Mixing stage. Sound Central ABQ has all of the tools needed to get any mixing job done.
- Sharing- On-site proximity to the full post-production facility of Production Central ABQ allows for efficient workflow. The sound studio can be linked to the picture side with fiber and have full access to all media storage and the edit rooms. In addition, the building is adjacent to the City Net™ Fiber Optic Loop and can be connected to Ultra Hi-Bandwidth lit fiber.
